The route south east from Fort Portal on the Kamwenge Road
and route to Riahamba Trading Centre is home to a series of
extinct volcanic craters each with it's own unique appeal.
The region is covered by extensive tea estates where tea pickers
are as much a part of the countryside ambience as is the
uniformity of the tea bush itself.
There are several community initiatives in the region that are
regually frequents by visitors. The Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is
especially popular for birding groups and individuals close to the
Kibale Forest National Park.
The twice weekly Riahamba market is a colourful affair where
local fresh produce and goods are on sale.
A visit to the Lake Nkuruba Nature Reserve is a special
highligh where the primary forest is present and
primates are to be seen in the forest canopy.
